You  many feel it is your responsibility but you do not have to do it alone, you do not have to be a superman or superwoman.  Ronaoke Valley Adult Day Center has been privileged to serve the elderly and disabled and their families for the past 24 years.  Through the adult day center stroke victims, Alzheimer's victims, developmentally disabled adults have all found they can remain at home and continue to be part of their families, churches, communities and have purpose and meaning to their lives.  It has been a great reward to support family members as they become involved in monthly support group meetings and take advantage of the repsite tiem which allows them to care for their loved one but also work, socialize and/or just take care of daily responsibilities.  Isolation and reclusiveness are not healthy for the cargiver or the care-receiver.  Roanoke Valley Adult Day Center works hard to address the needs of the caregiver and the care-receiver.

The Roanoke Valley United Way has long been a supporter of adult day services.  We are grateful to the citizens of the Roanoke Valley; it is you who have "made it all happen" these many years.  The major operational are that the Roanoke Valley United Way funds are benefitting is in our food program.  Good nutrition is essential to maintaining stabiliity in chronic conditions to the frail and elderly.  We offer breakfast, a complete hot meal at noon and PM snack each day.  Along with providing good nutrition, we also monitor blood pressure, blood sugar and assist with medication management.  This combination of nutrition, routine monitoring, therapeutic activities, and an inviting setting provides the ingredients for wellness and independence.

The Board of Directors and staff extend an open invitiation to all citizens of the Roanoke Valley to visit the center at 108 E. First Street, Weldon to see you local United Way dollars at work providing a positive impact on the lives of our participants and their families and your community.
